Out! Raleigh 2014

The small team collaborated again in 2014 to form a planning committee that brought together an event that many looked forward to that year. 

     As always, communities of Faith in Raleigh and surrounding areas lended their hearts and support to the festival. J Zirbel headed up the Faith Outreach committee that year and submitted a lovely quote about J’s goal. J said, ““I am a queer minister who is drawn to coloring outside the lines and working from the edge into the center to strengthen supportive, affirming community. I cannot imagine anything that could be more relevant to our life and well being than celebrating the diversity of our community. We are planning to have good times, lots of information and loving kindness packaged in the Out! Raleigh event.”

Pam Saulsby, one of Raleigh’s most well-known news anchors, gave the keynote speech in 2014. I Was Totally Destroying returned to the festival stage to…well… totally destroy it! Other performers included Theatre in the Park, Crystal Bright & The Silver Hands, and Dylan Michael. Faithful sponsors returned like Workplace Options, Food Lion, and many other local favorites. This year there was even a hashtag that was promoted; #OutRaleigh2014. 

    In 2014 the volunteers wore green and set up a lovely scene. Totes gay totes and plenty of sunscreen was all that could be seen in 2014.
